Do you want to work less?
I can help!
Did you think that once you finished residency, your workload would get easier but instead you are now working more than ever?
Or maybe you already work part-time, but you still feel overworked and stressed out most of the time and just want to enjoy your life as a physician more?
Do you:
- feel like there is never enough time to do what YOU want to do?
- feel overwhelmed and frustrated that you never seem to have any time left over for yourself after taking care of your patients, colleagues, family, and everyone else?
- try to make time for yourself but something always comes up and gets in the way?
- keep telling yourself that one of these days you’ll stop working so much and de-stress, relax and take some time off?
There is a solution! It is absolutely possible to work less and still thrive in your medical practice.
I’m a doctor and I’ve been in your shoes. I spent years working more than I wanted to because I thought that was what a good doctor did. I would say yes to clinics I didn’t want to do, see patients I didn’t want to see, work later than I wanted to, and then feel frustrated and resentful. And then I did the same thing in my personal life too!
As a dermatologist, I wasn’t working as many hours as the average physician. And so on top of feeling overworked, I also felt guilty for feeling overworked and wanting to work even less. Mostly I coped by telling myself that this is what doctors do: we work hard and, when things get tough, we just work harder.
Sound familiar?
Do you ever wonder why it’s so hard to stop overworking? You’re smart. You’re a doctor. You should be able to figure this out. Right? You know the way to stop overworking is to work less. Why can’t you (or most other doctors) seem to do this simple thing?
I’ll tell you why. It’s not because you’re a doctor. It’s not because your patients are too demanding. It’s not because your boss is unreasonable.
It’s because of your brain.
The problem—and the solution—lie in your thinking about work.
The reason this is such good news is that once you understand why you are the one responsible for overworking, you can change your thinking and stop working more than you want to.
That’s where I can help.
